I Am Christian

This is an open invitation to debate the evidence for evolution.

I have a few arguments which i feel are very convincing. I'm looking for you to give a better explanation of this evidence from a creation perspective.

Any challengers?

Celine, I have edited my response to your question, because I realised I made assumptions about your personal views, when you didn't actually express a personal view. I'm sorry, that was wrong of me. I've changed my post to make it more general.

@Celine: I think the real thing we should be debating is why people believe in the supernatural. I think that is the big hurdle some people might have about evolution. If they think there was or could be a creator, then that easily opens the door to doubting evolution (without REALLY debating its truth at all). If they are like me and do not believe in the supernatural, then there is only one option: that the origin of life, and species, and their evolution is all natural. I do not think that most evolution deniers think the way they do because they think it might have happened via some OTHER natural process. Rather, I think they are too fixated on the idea of a God or something creating the universe, life, and people, and effecting it still. That is the big problem in my mind, this infantile delusion that the supernatural exists. Ugh. I thought humans were supposed to be intelligent beings. Heck, if God really designed us to be smart we would all not believe in him! LOL!

I confess I do not know a lot about evolution. And I cannot really say there is no God because it is hard to prove the non-existence of something. All I can say is I see no reason yet to believe. And I am not sure I want it, anyway. At least not the God in the Bible. He is a big ass hole. Fuck him.

Isn't there stuff about evolution that is not known? Like how exactly did life first arise on Earth?

I am glad I decided to pursue math not science. Math, like religion, has the luxury of not having to be based on empirical evidence. Yet math is way more cool and fun than religion!

I always liked physics, but was limited because I could not understand the math. Then I learned some math in high school (AP Calculus) to help me learn the physics (AP) and I discovered I liked math more. But when I went to college I thought I would be a geologist. Yet I still took math classes. I quickly learned I loved math more than science so majored in math. I took chemistry as well as geology. Yet no biology. I took a comparative religion class, too. It may seem odd but I never took any physics classes in college.

Now I make a living as a statistician. Yet mostly I write programs and program specifications to study statistical methods and implement them.

Intelligent discussions are quite rare here! It is refreshing to have one!

Keep trying. It was better years ago on EP. That place seemed to have more stories, and longer ones. I used to write stuff, too. I am too lazy now.
