Yep. Jesus said that some of those that he was talking to would still be alive when he returned. There must be some mighty old people in Jerusalem that are .....still.. waiting...

@Adstar Wow, the twisted 'logic' on display here. You're basically saying that because the prophecies didn't come true, that doesn't mean that this Jesus character was actually a false Jewish prophet (because apparently that's impossible for some reason), but that he actually had in mind a time 2,000 or so years hence, even though on more than one occasion the generation that is spoken of is quite explicit.
For example, Matthew 16:28
“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” - NIV

@Bella98 Jesus was the Messiah and He is LORD.. He was not a mere messenger.. He did give prophecies but he was not a prophet.. If you cannot understand that then ok such is life..

Your mixing up different scriptures.. The signs given by Jesus showing what would be happening before His second coming was in Matthew 24.. the whole chapter goes through the end times happenings..

Of course Jesus went into His kingdom at the Assention He was lifted up in His body and entered into heaven and yeah there where people standing before Him at the time who witnessed Jesus being raised up into heaven.. So that prophecy of Jesus was accurate.. It did not fail..

I am a Christian.. I believe in the rapture.. But i do not see it coming any time soon.. I see it happening on the day of the second coming of Jesus Christ.. The so called Pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is to me an escapist doctrine that sounds good on the ears and many people latch onto it because they WANT to believe it..

There have been many failed rapture date announcements.. And many people have had their confidence in God ground down into dust because of them.. Which is not right.. God is not at fault for the false prophecies people spread.. Those false prophets are at fault..

Origin of the word Rapture::
Yes,
rapture comes from the Latin verb rapio, meaning "to seize," "snatch," or "carry away," and is used in the Latin Vulgate to translate the Greek word harpazo (meaning "to snatch up" or "catch up") from passages like 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The Latin term rapiemur or rapturo is directly used in the Vulgate to express the idea of being "caught up" or "taken away"

(1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: {17} Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. {18} Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

So while the word Rapture is not in the Bible as Rapture.. It is in the Bible as the worlds Caught up..

When people say that the Bible already tells us we don't know, it's going to come up on us like a thief in the night, when we least expect it. they fail to read the message in context..

(1 Thessalonians 5:2-5) "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. {3} For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. {4} But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. {5} Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness."

So brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief........ Again failure to take into account all the message of scripture leaves people in darkness..

A lot of the over 2 billion Christians worldwide you may have a few, 1% actually less than 1% that will predict or follow predictions, are hope that the predictions are true.

99 plus percent of Christians know that the Bible is clear no man knows the date of the hour which means we can't predict what day and what time he's coming.

All Christians can do is pay attention to the signs of the times we're living in and when we see all the things occurring concerning prophecy we know that his coming is near, even at the door.

And there are only two, maybe three prophecies that is not occurring the days of Noah the rise of the Antichrist and possibly the gospel being preached to All Nations as a witness.

And the prophecies that make the biggest difference is knowledge has increased as written in Daniel 12:4 and people are running to and fro..... The mark of the beast can be initiated whether you believe it's a tattoo or microchipping which is being used by people ..... The days of Lot are here, wide open like it was in Sodom and Gomorrah.....

Other prophecies which are occurring: The weather is getting worse ..... Wars are getting worse..... Crime is getting worse..... Lack of Love is getting worse..... Families are against each other getting worse...... Famine is getting worse..... Plagues / viruses are getting worse .... With television and Internet the whole world will see him coming ..... And in this world more frequency. The Earth is moaning and groaning of the things that is happening to her.

But for the unbeliever as is written in Revelation continued doing / believing whatever it is you're doing / believe.

The word rapture is not in the Bible it's a fairly new English word first used in the 16th century.

https://www.etymonline.com/word/rapture

The definition of the word rapture from the biblical standpoint is when Christ takes his people up from Earth.

And you are correct people have been trying to prophesied when it's going to happen, when the Bible already tells us we don't know, it's going to come up on us like a thief in the night, when we least expect it.

All the prophecies of the end times must be in the acts of fulfilling simultaneously and we're almost there. We're only lacking the days of Noah, the rise of the and his Antichrist...... Not really sure if the gospel has been preached to All Nations, it seems like there are tribes that they consider uncontacted that has rejected outside interference...... The world has been preparing for a cashless society for decades and we're almost there...... The world has been trying for a one world system so all countries can unite closer than we think, the European Union and the United Nations were the start...... Most importantly the mark of the beast can be initiated since the 20th century.

Those that don't believe in the return of Christ and him gathering together his people from the Earth, it is their right to do so.
at 47 ive lived thru countless end of worlds and raptures.

just saying

Jesus is coming in our generation! we know that for a fact because of all the signs and because He said that the gospel will be preached to the whole World and then the end. The internet says the gospel has not been everywhere, but that is not true. Missionaries, short wave radio, and internet have gone EVERYHERE!
Bella98 · 26-30
@Carazaa No, it was his generation he was speaking of, the generation that existed during the early first century AD.

They're playing the law of averages. Eventually, we will all explode or whatever. But hopefully it will be powerful enough so we don't have to listen to a Joe Rogan podcast about it.

If Jesus didn't know when it was going to happen then man definitely doesn't know either.

@Musicman Jesus told us all the signs of the generation that would see him come back, we know for a fact he is coming any day because He said that the gospel will be preached to the whole World and then the end. The internet says the gospel has not been everywhere, but that is not true. Missionaries, short wave radio, and the internet have all gone EVERYHERE! My family on my Dads side have been missionaries in Africa for over 150 years. I have many African handmade gift from Africa, they loved my aunts and many were converted.
