Old World Christians, did Judas want to force rebellion?

No, Judas loved money.

That was most likely his reason for following Christ. Judas carried the purse can only the Lord knows how much money Judas probably stole. After all he's betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver. Christ knew he would do this that's why Christ chose him.

It is written in Matthew Judas hung himself out of regret, odds are the disciples hung in and gutted him but Christians did not want to put murder upon the heads of the disciples.

Acts 1:18 Paul says Judas fell bursting open and spilling his entrails......... Is it possible to fall in burst open. The disciples or one or two of them gutted Judas.

But most Christians will never admit that possibility.

@Oldanglaisadverbs I believe more in the theologies of then than I do of many of these of today.

Plus I see some differently than either such as what happened with Judas.
Atheist would say it is contradicting because Matthew said Judas hung himself and Paul said Judas fell and burst wide open. I see Judas as being gutted then hung just each writer gave different accounts.

Nor anywhere in scripture does it indicate Judas wanted to force a rebellion. John 12:4-6 clearly tells us Judas was a thief and his concern was money.

No. I don't think so.. But i believe the religious elites had something like that in mind when they organized the execution of Jesus.. manipulating the Roman authorities into execute Jesus.. I believe they wanted to get rid of Jesus but to pin any blow-back they could face from the Jewish masses by getting the Romans to do their dirty work..

But in the end when Pilate kept on refusing to execute Jesus the religious elites publicly too ownership of the responsibility for the execution and the Pilate immediately stopped resisting their demands and had Jesus executed quickly..

According to the scriptures he wanted a revolution strangely like the Judas maccabees in the apocrypha.
