I wouldn't pretend to guess who arranged the seats on this Court much less know if it matters since theyre almost certain to move away from live audiences completely soon enough.
Remember the "The Star Chamber?"

@MistyCee I think it’s actually a standard arrangement they do when a new justice comes in, oldest (Thomas) on one side of the leader, then by seniority alternating left to right, putting the most recent two at the opposite ends. Look what a contrast between the last two appointments, I still find it creepy.
@BackyardShaman Well, then, I guess we live in creepy times. TBH, the youth of these newer justices is maybe more telling than the individuals to me.
Seems like we've entirely abandoned the idea of experience and conventional qualifications and moved to youth and long term impact.
Could just be me and my own age bias, but it seems like not just with Scoutus, that we're getting younger and younger federal judges. It makes sense, given Trump's anti-institutional leanings and the history of the legal profession, but I'd be surprised if Biden hasn't joined in on the youth train as well.

@MistyCee They can be babies or 100 years-old but we need to get away from the Catholics and the Jews on the SCOTUS.

@Diotrephes The real problem is how many conservatives there are on the court.

Do you really expect anything different in the Catholic-Jewish club?

@Diotrephes Yes. Sonia Sotomayor is a liberal Catholic, and there have been conservative Jews on the court in the past. And the court currently has a liberal Protestant (Jackson) and a conservative Protestant (Gorsuch). And Elena Kagan is the sole Jew on the court, so it's hardly a "Catholic-Jewish club" unless even one Jew is too much for you. The most you can say is that the court's proportions aren't representative of the country as a whole, but we are divided ideologically far more than by religion.
Just because you hate Jews and Catholics doesn't mean that's the root of the court's problems. The real problem is that a majority of justices were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote, and confirmed by a Senate majority that represented a minority of Americans. Also, one man, Leonard Leo, the head of the ultra-conservative Federalist Society, is directly responsible for suggesting Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett to Trump, since Trump wouldn't know a judge from a hole in the ground.
