I Am Christian

Answer honestly…

- Can you recite the plot and even some lines from your favorite movies?
- Do you gladly plop down money to buy a new phone, app, game or something else you want?
- Do you somehow manage to set aside a few hours to pursue your own interests despite having a very busy schedule?
- If your favorite movie actor came to your house for dinner would you serve them leftovers?

You’re probably thinking that these are ‘duh’ questions. Why, I’m willing to bet you can recite several movies that you’ve seen - including some of the dialog. Since most people work hard for their money they deserve to buy a few indulgences now and then. After a hectic work day, everyone needs to have a few hours to do what they like. And no one in their right mind would serve their favorite movie actor old leftover lima bean casserole. That’d be rude.

Ok, now let me rephrase those questions a bit. (Remember, answer honestly)

- Do you know more than just a couple of popular verses of God’s Word?
- Do you begrudgingly drop a few coins in the collection plate at church?
- Do you set aside a minute or two each day to read your bible and/or pray?
- If God came to your house for dinner, would you serve Him old leftovers you found in the back of your fridge?
…………

It’s amazing how a person can know all about a song or a movie and yet know so little about God’s Word. Can a movie tell you how to live? Can a song show you the way to heaven? So many people get so wrapped up in obtaining the fleeting things this world offers that they short change God. They take the best for themselves and give God what’s ‘leftover’.

***
Leftovers are such humble things,
We wouldn’t serve them to a guest
And yet we serve them to our Lord
Who deserves the very best.

We give Him leftover time,
Stray minutes here and there,
Leftover cash we give to Him
Such few coins as we can spare.

We give our youth unto the world
To hatred, lust and strife;
Then in declining years we give
To Him the remnant of our life.

***

God gave you the very best of heaven – without hesitation. Are you giving God your best?
Or are you simply giving Him your leftovers?

No left overs for me. I take the ‘whole book’. And it is more important than this whole world piled up in a heap. One soul is worth more than all of this world. What would man give in exchange for his soul?

@SW-User And yet so many do exchange a home in heaven for a few brief moments of pleasure here. God has always demanded first place in our lives ("Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."). Yet so many times our actions show that He is not #1, despite what we may think or say.

@shuhak I realize that. But we must be careful. Jesus said, let the tares grow with the wheat because you might pull up some of the tares. Nobody sits high enough to do that but Jesus!

Matthew 13:24-30
King James Version
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. @shuhak

“We” as in I think he comes first no matter what!!! No need to be defensive with me....But I also think some people here are very judgmental and that’s not their calling! Jesus dwelt among sinners trying to win them and he, himself was criticized by the Pharisees...

I am in no way trying to critique your post...and I don’t know you. What I am saying is there are many here that call themselves Christians but shun people they deem as sinners...And they are missing the mark!!!! And those are my words and my thoughts!!!

@SW-User Please, forgive me. I wasn't trying to be defensive nor disrespectful to you in any way. I was only making a casual observation. It is never my intent to hurt anyone, only to uplift and give fodder for thought. I am so sorry that my reply came off as negative. (I appreciated your comment.)

@shuhak I certainly didn’t take offense to your post as I know it’s true. My point is that so many here are judging their brothers and sisters... all on their own for perhaps something they don’t quite see eye to eye with or some other something or the other. I posted the scriptures for general purposes and not to throw the word at you. I know full well what you are saying is truth’ 🙏🏻.... But I see people here that act like if they held a conversation with someone that is not just like them, they would tarnish them and that is not the spirit of Christ... Jesus was found teaching among sinners and they heard him faster than the scribes and Pharisees..I’ve been blocked for simply not sharing the same opinion with some. Some I’ve had to block for lifting their self up above and trying to straighten me out when they have NO CLUE about me. I
Don’t allow none to do that... I don’t come here for insults. You did good!! ❤️
