What can a dead man do ? He is lifeless, he has no ability to respond. Only God can give life to the lifeless. Dead in spirit means a lifeless Hell bound soul. It doesn’t matter if someone agrees with or disagrees with my statement, some are God’s elect and many are not his elect.
@jarrod73 Absolutely! I don't think I've ever said anything differently. You are accurate.

Thank you so much for sharing this. For some years I studied the Bible with some Jehovah's witnesses but there was always something that didn't feel right about what they were teaching. I also felt that there was lots in the Bible that was contradictory to their beliefs - this is one of those passages that cemented that decision - so I broke away and joined a Pentecostal church.

When my husband was dying, I prayed for God to hold me up throughout what was going on. I felt the most amazing sense of love and what I just seemed to know was the presence of God. It was like a physical hug and I had the sense that I was being held up. I still believe that God was showing me that I didn't need to fear because my husband was "at home" with him.
@CrazyChick21 He sure does. I believe he shows up exactly not too soon and not too late, so that we will know for a fact that it was he who helped us and nothing else, as without him, things would not have turned around. That is when He is at his strongest when we find ourselves at our weakest.

@LadyGrace Amen! 🙏🙏🙏
@CrazyChick21 I hear you honey. I lost my husband in 2005. Unfortunately, since we live in a sinful world, we all will have to face death at our appointed time and that's just something we cannot avoid. But I praise God for the new life and new body he will give us and the promise of No More Tears or pain.

Living with God would be so wonderful. All the richness of the earth would fall short, the new trees, the new fruits we would have never tasted, all robed people, the mansion, the creatures, Angels, everything is so fantastic.

I think we, as in the people, try to mimic the establishments of The Heaven but we can never match by even 0.000000000000000001% because Heaven has no sin. Everyone, everywhere, there is Love around. There is God around.

I am gonna be a soldier in the Army of Jesus
@DanielsASJ Yes we are and how privileged and honored that will be to be by his side and fight alongside him, defeating Satan's armies.

I love that book of the Bible.
@BuzzedLightyear Do you? That's great. I like Proverbs. The teachings in it are so wise.

@LadyGrace it's logical

One point different, Jesus said Jehovah is the God of the living, not the dead, and that Abraham rejoiced to see His day

Physical death isn't the same as being truly dead
@th3r0n Amen! Thank you for sharing that. You’re so right.

Jesus said God is the God of the living. Abraham is alive with Him right now.

That is exactly what I was hoping people would see. Physical death is not the end for those in Christ. We just go Home to be with Him. I appreciate you adding Scripture to this. God bless you ♥

You’re saying the exact thing my devotional is saying — just in different words. That’s beautiful.

1. "Jesus said Jehovah is the God of the living, not the dead"
That’s Mark 12:27. Jesus said this about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
He is not the God of the dead but of the living.
Abraham is alive with God right now. His body died, but his spirit is living.
2. "Abraham rejoiced to see His day"
That’s John 8:56. Jesus said Abraham saw His day and was glad.
Abraham knew God, trusted God, and is alive with Him.
3. "Physical death isn't the same as being truly dead"
YES. That’s the whole point. The body sleeps in the ground. But the spirit goes to be with the Lord.
"Truly dead" in the Bible would be those separated from God forever. But for believers, we are alive with Christ the moment we close our eyes here.
