Your life is still on hold, if you've neglected to prepare your soul for eternity.
Whether you realize this or not, spiritually speaking, that's an extremely dangerous position you've placed yourself in. Here's why:
1. Eternity is just what it says... forever.
Truly I tell you, whoever hears My Word and believes Him (God the Father) who sent Me, has eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed over from death to Life. John 5:24
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did NOT send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to SAVE the world through Him. John 3:16
Eternal life means more than just living forever and being happy. It means we've been rescued from the punishment our sins have condemned us for. But thank God, that is not the end. Jesus is our eternal Rescuer and salvation. God did not leave us to guess:
1 John 5:11-13: "And this is the testimony: God has given us Eternal life, and this life is in His son. Whoever has the Son, has life; whoever does NOT have the Son of God, does not have life. I write these things to you, who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life."
There is NO uncertainty or expired warranty on salvation! Like any gift, salvation only becomes yours, if you accept it. A neglected gift doesn't truly belong to you. To enjoy the benefits of Salvation and eternal life, you have to willingly accept God's FREE gift to you.
2. We only get one shot to get our place in eternity, right!
Ecclesiastes 31 says, "God has set eternity in their hearts." This means that all of us who are made in the image of God have an intuitive awareness that life does not stop at the grave. The Bible contains most authoritative words ever said about life beyond the grave. First, it teaches that everyone who dies, shall be resurrected, in Acts 24:15. To which place, is your choice! That is your responsibility. God offers free salvation, but it's up to you to accept it.
We know from scripture, that everyone will give an account of their life before God. Hebrews 9:27. At this judgment, the issue will not be how great a sinner a person was in this life, as all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and salvation. Even one sin, keeps us from a sinless, holy heaven. So it's not a matter of how much or how greatly one has sinned, but what he or she did about it. Did that person turn to a blood-stained cross and acknowledge Jesus Christ as their rescuer and Savior, or not?
The Bible teaches that those who have trusted in Christ as their Savior and have allowed Him to wash away their sins and have had them forgiven, will spend eternity with God in heaven; while those who have decided that they want nothing to do with God or salvation and neglect Christ's plea to save them from the condemnation that sin placed on them, will have sent themselves into eternity and isolation from God. God will honor their decision. We simply cannot walk into a holy heaven with our sins on our heels, or it wouldn't be heaven. There is no sin in heaven, so we must prepare our souls to live there, by accepting Jesus' free help to save us and wash away our sins. By doing so, we are then made fit for heaven... our sins forgiven and forgotten by God.
3. Once we cross over into eternity, there's no changing our minds. There are no second chances!
Not one place in scripture speaks of reincarnation. It is the LIE of the devil. Don't fall for it! The following verse proves God's point:
"It is appointed unto man, only once to die, but after this, only one thing follows...the judgement." Hebrews 9:27
The judgment's purpose is for you to see why and where you have sent yourself... to heaven or hell. And at that time, you will know that judgment is absolutely right and deserved; that you sent yourself to one of these places...not God. The Bible says our soul never dies. It goes to one place or the other. It was, and is you, who decided what you wanted done with your life. Those who mock, curse, and laugh at the existence of God, will surely know and be sad that very day, that they neglected so great a Salvation. They will know without a doubt, that they are guilty of these sins. And sadly, it will grieve their hearts literally forever, that they acted towards God and disrespected him in this way and they'll realize much too late, that there's no changing their minds about it now. They have set their own eternal destination. God will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7
Jesus has done everything He possibly could, in order to save mankind. He not only said He loves us, He proved it on the cross. If any miss that, they will have missed everything. It won't be because God didn't try to save them. It will be their own stubbornness, mockery and coldness of heart towards God, that sealed their eternal destiny. Now, is the time and opportunity to allow Jesus to do the one and only thing He set forth to do while He was here on Earth... to save your soul. Please don't pass that opportunity by. Jesus is not willing that any perish, but have everlasting life.
