Quiet Conversations with God [Entry #6] — [Proverbs 18:21]

Proverbs 18:21 [NLT] - "The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk with reap the consequences."

Tonight, as I settle in after a decompressing shower and a light dinner, I'm letting this verse rest over me. The day has finally slowed down, and now that everything is quiet, I can feel the weight of the words I spoke; the ones that carried peace, the ones that carried frustration, and the ones I wish I had softened. I'm reminded that my words didn't just disappear into the air today; they planted something. Now, in this calm moment, I'm asking the Sovereign Lord, O God to help me see what grew from them.

I keep thinking about that moment in Luke 7, when Jesus approached the grieving widow. He didn't overwhelm her with pressure or judgment. He simply said, "Don't cry," and His compassion changed everything. His words were gentle, steady, and full of life. The kind of presence that comforts without demanding anything in return. That’s the kind of Christ‑like communication I want to grow into, especially on days like this when my emotions were louder than I realized.

As I wind down in my bed, I’m choosing to be mindful of how I speak; not just in public moments, but in the private ones too. Mindfulness means slowing down enough to let God soften my tone, guide my reactions, and steady my intentions.

It means recognizing when my words came from exhaustion instead of love, and letting the Holy Spirit reshape me so tomorrow’s conversations reflect more grace than today’s. I want my voice to feel safe, warm, and steady. The kind of presence that mirrors Christ quietly, without needing to announce it.

So tonight, I’m releasing anything I said that didn’t align with who I’m becoming in Him. I’m choosing peace over pressure, gentleness over frustration, and growth over guilt. Heavenly Father, thank you for guiding my voice today. As I rest, help me carry your wisdom into tomorrow. Let my words bring life, comfort, and encouragement wherever you place me. Amen! xoxo
