Quiet Conversations with God [Entry #5] - [Isaiah 50:4]

Isaiah 50:4 [NLT] - "The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will."
This morning, I arise feeling a little drained...the kind of tired where your body wants five more hours. Your mind is already thinking about everything you need to do, and your spirit is trying to catch up.
But it is Isaiah 50:4 that shows me that even on mornings like this, the Sovereign Lord is the one who wakes me with purpose. He gives me the wisdom, the strength, and the clarity I need to move through my day, even when I don't feel fully energized yet.
It's Friday, and there's something meaningful about that. The week is almost over, the weekend is close, and I can feel that quiet invitation to take care of my mind, body, and spirit.
To breathe. To reset. To allow God to refill the places that feel empty. But before I get there, I still have today; my classes to focus on, responsibilities to handle, and moments where I'll need that extra push to stay productive. And God meets me right here, in this morning exhaustion, offering strength I didn't wake up with.
I'm also thinking about the opportunities today might bring; maybe a chance to encourage someone, maybe a moment to speak life into somebody who's struggling, or even introduce them to who God is in a way that reflects Christ's heart. Not the harsh, judgmental tone that some proclaimed Christians use online or in-person, but the real and genuine Christ-like qualities of gentleness, compassion, patience, humility, and love. The kind of presence that draws people in, instead of pushing them away from being a part of a spiritual family of believers.
Colossians 4:6 [NLT] says this: "Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.”
How I speak matters. How I carry myself matters. Encouragement should feel like warmth, not condemnation as some are accustomed to doing. If God gives me the chance today to uplift someone, I want my words to reflect His grace; not Christian ignorance, arrogance, fear-mongering, but genuine love.
So this morning, I’m choosing to lean into the strength God offers. I’m choosing to care for my mind, my body, and my spirit. I’m choosing to walk into this Friday with purpose, even if I’m a bit tired. I’m choosing to be open to the moments where God might use me to comfort someone else with gentleness, with wisdom, and with the heart of Christ.
Heavenly Father, thank you for waking me with purpose. Thank you for giving me strength beyond my own. As I move through this day, please help me to stay focused, grounded, and compassionate. Use my words, to uplift, not tear down. Give me the strength and power of endurance to finish this week with grace, peace, and courage. Amen! xoxo
