Open Doors Highlights July/August 2026
. We start with a young supporter who raised £3,425.00 for Open Doors by doing a sponsored cycle. Always encouraging to see a young supporter of the persecuted church! Despite being under 10 years old she could certainly show many professing Christians a thing or two about caring for their persecuted family in Christ. Certainly many on here when they go quiet about their persecuted family and many churches when they don't follow up after a visit from an Open Doors volunteer!
. Pray for Pakistani Christian Maria Shabaz and her family- despite being aged 13 the Pakistani government took her away from her parents and forced her to return to her 30 year old captor who had forcibly married her. Pray for her prompt return to her parents and for the fake disgusting "marriage" to be annulled.
. Your prayers in advance for the Open Doors day of prayer on November 1st- this one will be especially significant as shortly after the 'Arise Africa' petition will be sent to the UK parliament.
. We learn of the struggles of Chinese underground house churches- they meet in secret with all blinds drawn. Chinese authorities threaten other churches if one is discovered, etc. One church got into trouble and as a result of fear of punishment other churches were to fearful to offer support. This brings feelings and situations too complicated for us to understand in the West so your prayers for these situations please.

We know of course about police raids on underground churches in China, but we learn just how much Chinese Christian youth put on the line in order to have fellowship with other believers- not only can they be arrested but they can be denied access to graduate programmes, affecting their entire future.

Also, with Chinese believers putting their entire future on the line just to attend a church service and have fellowship with other believers, does this not put to shame those who don't go to church here because in their pride they think the Christian walk can be a lone one (try and find find that in the Bible!!!).
