Revelation 19 is the famous passage about Jesus Christ returning on a white horse

Revelation 19:11 says, "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."

A little bit further down he's going to be identified as the word of God. There's a connection between Jesus Christ and the word of God. Jesus Christ is the word incarnate.

It's interesting here because it says that his name is called faithful and true. It says in Revelation 21:5, "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

Look at Revelation 22:6 - And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

Jesus and the word of God are often synonymous and we need to understand them in a way that's connected and not try to separate them. The Bible says in Revelation 19 where we just read that Jesus in righteousness he doth judge and make war and his name's called faithful and true.

Well, here's the thing, we're fighting a spiritual war ourselves right now as Christians in 2026 and every Christian in every generation has been fighting a spiritual war and this is the weapon that we use for that war. It's the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. God never calls us to get in a physical fight to to physically assault people or to go to war with weapons and go to those things. No, the Bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. They're not physical weapons. They're spiritual weapons and the battle is a battle for the hearts and minds of men. The devil deceives the whole world. There are all these lies and false doctrine and false garbage and we've got to cut through that stuff with the Bible.

And the reason why the Bible is the ultimate tool for fighting this battle is that these words are faithful and true. These sayings are faithful and true. Jesus is faithful and true. Now, what does that mean to be faithful? The idea here is it's something that you can put your faith in. You can trust it. It's reliable. And in fact, that is what the word true means as well. True is also synonymous with being faithful.

And the idea here is that the Bible is true in the sense that everything it says is right, everything it says is real, and it's also faithful in the sense that we can totally rely on it at all times. And we don't have to wonder like, I don't know, is the Bible right about this or can I really trust the Bible in this section? No, we know that the Bible is true, whereas a lot of the stuff that's out there in this world, we wonder about it. Something's on the news and sometimes you wonder like, hey, is this really real? Are these people really telling me the truth? A preacher gets up and makes certain claims and you wonder. People give you a church history lesson. And you know, I guess you could just eat it all up with fork and spoon and just believe that the Catholics are just giving us a really accurate view of church history or you can maybe doubt some of those things and wonder, hey, maybe somebody's lying. Maybe there's not as much evidence here as people are claiming.

But at the end of the day, everything is tested by the Bible. And the reason why everything's tested by the word of God is because it's faithful and true. And in righteousness, Christ doth judge and make war. Righteousness is being right, doing right, believing right, speaking right. And so, the Bible's always right, whereas all these other things history and you know, whatever claims are made by preachers or news anchors or those things are all up for grabs. The Bible is the one thing that is always true and right.

And it's so nice to be able to go through life at least with something where you can be like, hey, at least I know this is true. This can be a foundation. At least I can be founded on the rock here if I'm founded on the word of God. It's not going to change next week or next month. It's always going to be here. It's always going to say the same thing.

It always ends up being right on every single subject. And so, the word of God is faithful and true and in this war that we're battling for the souls of men, for the hearts of men, this is the tool. This is the weapon, the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And also notice it says in verse 11 that Jesus Christ, when he's coming on the white horse, he judges and makes war.

And this is another thing that you'll hear a lot is like, hey, don't judge me, bro, right Don't don't judge me. Only God can judge me. But here's the thing, this book is what judges us. This is the judge right here because this book tells you what is right and what is wrong. And if you're committing some sin that is condemned by the Bible and some Christian points that out to you, that's not them judging you. That's the Bible judging you. If you're stealing and somebody says, "Hey, the Bible says thou shalt not steal." Are you saying, "Oh, you're judging me right now." No, it's the Bible's judging you. The Bible's condemning you when it says, "Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to a man. Neither shall a man put on a woman's garment. For all that do so are abomination of the Lord."

They go, "Oh, you're judging me right now." That's the Bible judging you. The Bible judges in righteousness. He does judge and make war, the Bible says. And it says in verse 12-14, "His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."

Now, here's the thing. A lot of people will have this attitude that the Old Testament God is somehow the God of justice and warfare and wrath and that somehow God has softened up in the New Testament. But this is not what the Bible teaches. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. We're in Revelation chapter 19 and Jesus Christ is judging and he's making war and his eyes are like a flame of fire. I mean, that's that's a scary sight. Which is why in the book of Revelation when people are confronted with the Lord Jesus Christ, they typically fall on their faces as if they're dead.

They're typically so terrified and horrified that they pass out. And these are not bad people, you know, that would just be scared because they're on the wrong side of things, because, you know, yeah, if you're an atheist or something, yeah, you should be super scared to meet the Lord Jesus Christ. But I mean, even we're talking about godly Christians like the Apostle John or something, who's one of the godliest men who ever lived, even he's showing up and he's confronted with the reality of the glorified Jesus Christ in this format with his head and his hairs white like wool, white as snow, eyes like a flame of fire and everything. And he says, "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead." He just absolutely collapses.

So, it goes to show you that God, yes, is a God of love and mercy and compassion. And John realized that more than anybody. I mean, John is the guy who's leaning on Jesus' breast at the Last Supper. He's literally leaning on him, physically, at his bosom. So, this guy understands the warmth and compassion and love of Jesus Christ, but at the same time, he's terrified when he comes into contact with the Lord Jesus Christ in his glory. Because we need to have that healthy respect and fear of God, because this is who he is. And we don't want to get a wrong view of Jesus because the way Jesus could often be portrayed is sort of an anything goes Jesus, hippy Jesus, late '60s, early '70s kind of Jesus, instead of the Jesus of the Bible. Who is not playing games with the word of God, with truth, with right and wrong. He's serious.

He's clothed in a vesture dipped in blood, his name is called the word of God. This is kind of a throwback to the Old Testament story of Joseph, where you have Joseph's brethren, and they end up beating him up, throwing him in a pit, and then selling him into slavery. And when they beat him up and throw him in the pit, they take his garment and they dip it in blood in order to show it to the dad and say, "Hey, you know, is this your son's or not?" Because they're trying to trick Jacob into thinking that Joseph has been killed by a wild animal.

So, the idea with the vesture dipped in blood is that the Lord Jesus Christ was physically slain by his brethren. He came unto his own and his own received him not. His brethren meaning the children of Israel. They ended up killing the Lord Jesus Christ and it's by that shedding of blood that we have remission of sins. It's the blood of Jesus Christ, God's son, that cleanses us from all sin. And so that robe that's dipped in blood pictures that. His name's called the word of God. The armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And the Bible talks about how that fine linen that they're clothed in is the righteousness of saints. So, here's the thing about our righteousness. We don't have our own righteousness because our righteousness is filthy rags. And notice it doesn't say that they're following him clothed in filthy rags. They're clothed in these really pristine white linen garments and this is what the Apostle Paul meant when he said in Philippians chapter 3:9, "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law...." which would be following the laws of God. Keeping the commandments, do this, don't do that. He's saying, "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Look, none of us is perfect. None of us is sinless and you know, as mentioned above about the Bible judging people earlier, well, the Bible judges all of us because we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God. But, the difference with us as saved Christians, it's not that we have stopped sinning, it's not that we've turned over a new leaf, it is the fact that we have been washed in the blood of Christ and we have not our own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.

The fact that we have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ means that we are declared righteous in the sight of God. God sees us as righteous because we've been clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Because he's wearing the garment dipped in blood, we can wear that pristine perfect robe of righteousness. Not that we earned it or did it ourselves, but rather it was just granted unto us, just a gifted unto us that God sees us as righteous.

Do you want to be seen as righteous by God? Turn to the King of kings - The Lord Jesus Christ - He is a true living savior. He's alive.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31).

In the book of Acts 4:12, the declaration of the early disciples - "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

No name but Jesus Christ. If you don't know Him yet, this is an incredible invitation that "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13).

If you don't know Him, you can call on the name of Jesus Christ who died, was buried and rose from the dead and lives right now and who is God in human flesh and who loves you and wants you. Listen, He lives and has been knocking at the door of your heart.
