Christians- Do you encourage preachers?

I remember at the questions in a Bible study, our elderly sister in Christ (she is like a grandma to my wife and I ❤) saying she always encourages genuine preachers of the Gospel when she sees them in the street.

Today after a job interview at Canary Wharf there was a British Nigerian man preaching the Gospel. THE GOSPEL-not a watered down one, making it all about you!!!!!!

He preached on the wrath of God coming and Christ (God The Son) taking the wrath of God The Father on the cross, rightfully meant for us, so that those who come to Christ and accept His sacrafice can be saved from the wrath to come.

It was a blessing to say thanks to him and to be an encouragement as I can't imagine he recieves much.

This man was not afraid to preach what John 3:36 explicitly says!!!!!

May we as Christians always encourage GENUINE preachers of the Gospel (not heretics like JWs). It is a thankless job and most of us do not have the guts to do it.

Did you get the job?
@sree251 Not many know on the first day of the interview! 😅

@BritishFailedAesthetic Often in teaching you do, or at least did, but that's an exception. I hope you don't have to wait too long. 🙏

Going for an interview for a job doesn't sound good.

@sree251 It’s a perfectly normal process in the UK, I think. It certainly used to be when I was working.

Just because it is normal doesn't mean it's fine. It's streetwalking. What were you selling?

@sree251 I don’t understand the underlying aggression here. What’s the issue?
@sree251 Going for an interview doesn't sound good for a job... are you living in an alternate reality?
@FreddieUK Thankyou for the encouragement!

What aggression? Do you feel intimidated by my question? I wonder why?

@sree251 Classic non-answer. You’re usually better than that.

Let's say I am living in a world where hawking yourself is not a good thing to do.

I am responding to your asking me about my being confrontational. It baffling to me. Why don't you spit it out and explain how I am being aggressive?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@sree251 Certainly. I’ll be back in a little while, but have to go just now.

With apologies to @BritishFailedAesthetic if this is seeming to hijack his thread, but I'll just finish off my discussion with @sree251 which I promised to do.

It may be a cultural difference, but in the UK employers advertise jobs and those looking for work apply. Many apply for one job and part of the process of choosing a new employee is to invite people for interviews. Perfectly straightforward. I think the sense of aggression came when you said it sounded like streetwalking.

Normally, if someone told me that they had a job interview I would be delighted for them, therefore your apparent moral judgement seems very odd and perhaps aggressive. Are things very different in the States where employers just write to you and ask you to come and join?

I'm happy to take this to another post if that is more helpful.

I can close this diversion with a short reply. You are a Brit and I am American. Looking for a job is the last resort to make a living when you throw in the towel and give up hope of realizing your dream. I would rather be dead than go looking for a job.

@sree251 Well that explains a lot. Thanks.
