Sermon Notes 15/02/25- the rest.
Just like yesterday's notes on death, sermon based on 2 Kings 2:1-15
. Elijah's ascenscion is surely a prelude to Christ's infinitely more glorious ascension.
. If you love the fellowship of other Christians, that is a positive sign you are heaven bound.
. Why such a bond with other Christians? We will be with them for an eternity, in the presence of The Lamb. This TRUE bond can only come from God.
. Like Elisha cleaving to Elijah it is great to be with other Christians, but rememember to cleave to the greatest One of all- Christ.
. The world craves material things in many forms but like Elisha wanting a double portion of the Spirit, our prayer as Christians daily should be "Fill me with Your Holy Spirit".
. We should actually be thankful God in His sovereign wisdom doesn't answer all of our prayers- look at Elijah's early prayer to die but look what God gloriously did to him, heaven in chariots of fire!
