Wednesday Church Bible Study Notes 21/01/26
Based On Matthew 6:5-8
. My pastor begins with "Show me a prayerless Christian and I'll show you an unbeliever"
. If you are using liturgical prayer, that can be ok, but only if you sincerely mean the words.
. A- Adoration- Start prayer for adoring who God is. Stop focusing on self in prayer.
. Praise God in song.
. Try silence before service- thinking on the Triune, Thrice Holy God you worship.
. C- Confession- Merely being sorry for your sins isn't repentance, do a 180!
. T- Thanksgiving- Be grateful for all your blessings small big, be grateful for creation itself! Be grateful for who God is, His providence, His guidance, etc.
. S- Supplications- Who to pray for. Missionairies, persecuted church, salvation for the unsaved (especially those in your life), remember, in prayers you come last!
. My pastor is increasingly of the opinion that if he asks you for anything he can pray about for you and you say nothing, you are not a Christian at all, there should always be at least one thing!
. Be honest and bold in prayer- God already knows what you will ask and He knows your needs.
. "Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.” — William Cowper
. God sends trials to get us to pray, He squeezes the prayer out of us.
