. Do idols talk? God does. God raises rulers- idols don't. Idols can include humans too not just objects. That politician you idolise, you will one day see their funeral and ashes scattered live on tv.
. Even the still, small voice of God caused Elijah to cover his face. The same still voice could change or even kill a fearsome leader like Putin.
. Elijah pridefully thought he was the only servant of the Lord left but God had 7,000 around in that area. Even in the worst of times with lower congregations, etc God still has His remnant, He knows His remnant from eternity past.
. In heaven you will be surprised- people you thought would be there won't be but people you thought wouldn't be, will be!
. Like Elijah and his disciple Elisha, God calls the unexpected. George Whitefield, one of the preachers of the great revival in the States, before preaching, worked in his mother's hotel in Gloucestershire. The puritan John Bunyan was a tinker before being called by God to ministry.
. Like Elijah's disciple, the disciples of Christ (god the Son) followed His still small voice calling them, no questions.
.A rejoicing thought that many will come to Christ this year and there call is yet to come. Christ first loved us, therefore we now love Christ.
. Holidays and general happy events in life- they come and they are gone before you know it, but God's glory is forever.
