He offers powerful promises of rescue and help in trouble, notably inPsalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (a perpetually available source of safety and power during difficulties), andIsaiah 46:4: "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
