Sermon Notes 28/12/25
What an amazing service at my former church in my former town to see us into the New Year! Very prayerful and members got up thanking God for what has been happening in their lives! From the normal to a seemingly fruitless ministry in South Africa seeing 0 to 16 men give their lives to Christ all at once!
Sermon based on Luke 2:22-40.
. No NT yet just promises of God for the two elderly people Anna and Simeon.
. There's waiting..... and then there was Simeon's waiting... the whole of the OT and the Messiah has not yet arrived... Simeon is waiting- will the Messiah arrive in his time.... or in another 1000 years???
. To show us the amazing way of salvation now available for us gentiles through Christ (Jews MUST believe on Christ too)- the signs in the temple in those days warned non Jews going into the temple would be subject to death. Yet Simeon mentions us gentiles first while prophesying.
. "If only God came into this world then I'd believe him". He did and they didn't.
. Pray as the light of the Gospel of Christ comes forth into the new year many will come to him- "My eyes have seen the light of your salvation"
. It's not about us- we do not deserve God's salvation, yet he freely gave it to us, to all those who believe in Christ. So, not what we do but what God has done for us.
