Last of the year.......
This should be the last Bible Study/Sermon at my local church this year as I should be spending the last of the year with my parents from Friday, God willing, and my wife should join us soon after.
I can continue complaining this has been one of, if not, the worst years of my life but I should focus on the spiritual side of things and that has been great.
After much talking, a few months ago this year, as you probably know, my wife and I decided to leave our former church and join the one we've now been attending, we have been members for the past several months. I could not stop thinking about one thing my current pastor said, "Some churches get so obsessed with the community, they forget the Gospel". That hit like a sledgehammer as I know it to be true.
I have the blessing of having the best pastor I have ever heard- as you can tell from my sermon notes and Bible study notes, he doesn't mince his words! No "You're so amazing!" "You're so special!" no sentimental "God's happy when you're happy!" with him. With him you get sermons on our sinfulness and God's glory and righteousness!
You know how I know he preaches the Gospel at his Easter and Christmas sermons? Because some visitors walk out. Pray for his carol service this year as they guests won't get an inoffensive message, they'll get a sermon on sin, judgement and the saving power of the Gospel!
Well, tomorrow, I should have the last notes from my local church for this year, but many more sermon and Bible study notes to come from it next year!
