The actual wedding blessing
So today some friends of ours who attend our church, got their wedding blessing and my pastor did his usual God given talent- pointing everything back to the Gospel.
He began by stating that BIBLICAL marriage is a very important thing- this is a living representation of Christ and His bride- the church, so we are to take it very seriously.
He then talked about the temporary nature of marriage- it is only for this life- ofcourse we will see our spouses in heaven if they believed on Christ but we will not be married to them in Heaven (Matthew 22:30).
He then pertains to what all worldly wedding feasts point to- the marriage supper of the Lamb. All Christians will of course partake in this wedding feast of Christ and His church whether they were married in this life or whether they were single all their life.
He then asks everyone present (especially since my friend's parents are not Christians) "Will you be at the marriage supper of the Lamb?" He explains the Gospel- that Christ (God the Son) shed His blood on the cross for our sins and even had God's full wrath, rightfully meant for us, poured out on Him on the cross. He says that everyone who rejects this Gospel will not be at the feast and will be cast into hell for all of eternity, forever under God's wrath.
What an amazing Christ centred message and our friends, the couple, were so Christ centred they didn't want any photos taken during the ceremony as they wanted the glory to go to God.
