Sermon Notes 16/11/25

Sermon based on 1Kings 17:17-24

. "Is there life after death?" Start with "who holds the keys to life and death?".

. The woman experienced miracles of an endless supply of food, only for her son to die, in blessed times of life be prepared for trials to come, God will not have you complacent, He will send trials to you.

. As Elijah laid the boy before the Lord, so lay your burdens to the Lord.

. "See the power of prayer and the power of him that hears prayer, who kills and makes alive." Matthew Henry commentary on 1 Kings 17:22

. Just like the boy's dead body we are all naturally spiritually dead- you cannot give yourself spiritual life! God raises souls to spiritual life!

. Lazarus had two funerals- Christ did not!!!!!!

. If you died today- what would your status be? Have the things of this world distracted you? Have you obsessed about politics but not the things of Christ? Worldliness begets worldliness- maybe you are a married man on here proffesing Christ but then commenting and flirting on a woman's picture, etc. Christ sees all. Work out your salvation and proffesion in fear and trembling.

Christ was a messenger not a messiah to be worshiped, hell doesn’t exist, life is eternal.

@Achelois According to God's Word, JESUS was not only the Messiah, but He is also God in the flesh, contrary to where you're deriving your info.

Hell does exist, JESUS spoke about it, and that you deny it doesn't remove it.

Life is eternal, but depending on who JESUS is to you is where you spend eternity: heaven or hell. If your view of JESUS is just a messenger and nothing more, I'd would use the time granted to you to make sure your view of JESUS is correct.

@Achelois Why? You wouldn't accept such proof anyways. Your mind is made up. My Christianity is not based on the Bible. It is based on the Living God named Yahweh Father Son and Holy Spirit. I know Him. I have been walking with Him for over 40 years. I have seen miracles that simply defy the laws of nature as proof of a Supernatural Being. The Bible is very handy but it is not the basis of my faith.

@hippyjoe1955 The Bible is God's living word. I would call an Open Doors prayer diary or Spurgeon's morning and evening "very handy" but I wouldn't dare refer to the DIVINELY INSPIRED Word of God like this.

The burden of proof would be on you and the other making the claim. I know it's not twisted. You disagree. Then simply show me.

@Achelois lol you're not debating correctly. I said it's not twisted by men. You questioned that (supposing an implication that it is from you). So, I ask where do you see this? And your response is, "well how do you know it's not?"

I know it's not. If you can't provide any evidence then your argument is not valid, my friend. My attention is ready for you when you provide me something. I just want to understand your position.

@Achelois Yes I know Jesus is the WORD of God. The Logos, the Logic, God's stream of Consciousness. Just as God has a Logos He also has a Will. We Christians refer to that Will as Father. God also has a Presence We Christians call that the Holy Spirit. Yes the Triune God caused men to write and inspired them as they wrote what we call the Bible. Sadly for us we too often get confused trying to read and understand the Bible so we wind up with all kinds of debates, discussions and disagreements. Those result in the huge plethora of denominations we see across the world.

@Achelois We are not capable of holding what God has. Jesus emptied Himself that He might become fully man and in doing so reconcile us to Himself.

@BritishFailedAesthetic So you want to restrict your faith walk by what the Bible says or at least what you think the Bible says? I don't doubt the Bible but I do doubt human's ability to come to a true understanding of it. Look at the number of denominations all split based on their understanding of the Bible. Kind of funny. I lived in a village of 500 people. The community was established by Mennonites fleeing persecution from the Cossacks in Ukraine a hundred years ago. 500 people divided into 3 groups. There were the Christians and there were the unbelievers but the Christians themselves were split. 500 people and 2 churches.
