Wednesday Church Bible Study Notes 15/10/25

On Jonah Chapter 3:

. Are we not all like Jonah? God will break our stubbornness and it will be a blessing.

. God will send trials to humble us if we are genuine believers. Just like Jonah we will escape when God lets us out of the trial's mouth.

. God graciously gave Nineveh 40 days to repent, he didn't have to give any time at all!

. As Christians we are just saved sinners- nothing special.

. God deliberately doesn't give us the date of Christ's return as he knows we will get spiritually slothful if we did.

. The King of Nineveh knew God wasn't a care bear- he knew God's anger is fierce, hence the repentance was the way it was. God is a consuming fire- Hebrews 12:29.

. On a additional note to the above a certain individual on here did a few posts about Christ being some hippy socialist- they might want to read 2nd Thessalonians 1: verses 7-9. Individuals who portray God as acting like a helpless romantic in salvation also might want to give these verses a read.

Bonus insights from my pastor at Q and A:

. The further we are in the Christian life, the more sinful we will feel.

. Salvation and repentance aren't works- you don't think your rotten heart could naturally produce these things do you? These are exclusive gifts of God.
