Thoughts on issues

A question was posted on here asking people about Bible reading habits and it's prompted me to post my thoughts on several issues so I don't keep repeating myself.

The Bible

If we truly believe the Bible is written by a Sovereign Triune God whose glory can't fully be comprehended even with an eternity with him why would we not read it everyday? It is illogical to say we don't read it everyday. "I don't have time" So you never look at YouTube, the news, etc? 🤨 Your priorities show where your heart is, your words will not convince me.

The Bible will not get boring- I have read the Bible daily for along time- my pastor reads the Bible daily and has to use it for his sermons, Wednesday Bible Study, etc all the time and it does not get boring to him, an elderly Guyanan lady in her 80s at our church has done this for tons of decades and the Word is as fresh to her as it was when she first began!

Let us finish with a quote by Robert Murray M'Cheyne which can be applied to daily Bible reading- "“Unfathomable oceans of grace are in Christ for you. Dive and dive again, you will never come to the bottom of these depths. How many millions of dazzling pearls and gems are at this moment hid in the deep recesses of the ocean caves"

Fellowship

We did learn yesterday that Paul had a deep love for non believers but God has a special love for his people and we should too.

I enjoy going to 'spoons with my secular mates and having good conversation. On Saturday I will be golfing on a mini stag do with my soon to be brother in law with his mates, my dad and my uncles. My brother in laws mates are proper Essex so it will be a great laugh and a great time.

But none of this compares to fellowship with other believers- they are your family in Christ and seeing them in or out of church is a very tiny taste of heaven itself.

If you have professed Christ for awhile but you do not have a special love for other believers, well, you've seen it from the verses I pin on my posts on the persecuted church- you are not a Christian. Simple as.

Church

Your church should be all about the Gospel and God's glory not an ear tickling session.

The Gospel must be proclaimed regularly and God's word must be taught as infallible. If some fake (or biblically unqualified) pastor tries to change God's word to suit the times, run away from that so called church and don't head back!

Church should be welcoming in fellowship and it should develop your sense of seeing other Christians as family, non Christians who attend must be made to feel welcome after service too but preaching must not be catered to their comfort.

It's sad my own denomination by it's own decision recently shows that it scoffs at God's word but sadly it has been long rotting at it's core and I'm much more likely to recommend a Baptist church than an Anglican one (there are still good Anglican ones though).

A Biblical Church where true believers are worshipping together is the closest tiny taster to heaven we can get in this life.

Posts

Again Christian posts are to be God glorifying and Gospel centered, not a bunch of self help drivel talking about secular psychological concepts like "self love" (whatever that is).

Oh, I see certain posts are loved alot because they are all about easy believism, oh have the name of Christ but don't take his Lordship and treat that post like your Church for the week. What's more after reading that post ,continue showing non Christian attitudes to those you are debating on this site and show your concerns are for this life only by your posts.

My posts and every other Christian post are not a substitute for church- also it's great talking to other brothers and sisters from the States and other Countries here but I am not in person with you holding a coffee and chatting or at your house, a restaurant, etc. This is not a substitute for fellowship!

Conclusion

As my pastor says- we are preaching to ourselves too, we are not holier than thou! May we all grow in Christ together.
