This needs to be addressed...
Before I write this so I don't get misunderstood- there was a sermon from a pastor posted on here on SW who disgustingly attacked Charlie Kirk after his death, that pastor cares about percieved 21st Century social justice issues, he cares not about the saving Gospel of Christ.
But now onto the main point of this post- some YouTubers have said they are leaving their church because Charlie Kirk's assisination was not mentioned by their pastors- brothers and sisters in Christ, this is not a good enough reason to leave your local Gospel church.
In a group of 100 people in a congregation if Kirk got mentioned if they were all to complain you'd hear things like "Charlie Kirk didn't get mentioned enough" "Charlie Kirk distracted from the message of the sermon" "You need to find enough balance between God's glory and Charlie Kirk". Friends, church is about God's glory and that's it. It is not a consumer business which you can just choose.
My pastor mentioned Charlie Kirk and Erika Kirk's Christ like forgiveness in passing in his sermon.
Imagine if he hadn't mentioned Kirk at all- a church that helped my wife and I grow in Christ, a place where we have met new brothers and sisters in Christ and shared meals with them, rejoiced with them and mourned with them, a place where God's word is preached and God's glory is exhalted...... and I left.... Why? Because Kirk wasn't mentioned, sorry but that would be non sensical!
Pastors are to decide on their convictions on what glorifies Christ, not us.
I'll close with a thought experiment. Pretend my Christian posts never mentioned the persecuted church (at my church last night an Open Doors visitor did a presentation). Pretend my most recent posts never mentioned Kirk.
Next part of the thought experiment- you message me "BFA you never mentioned Kirk's death" I reply to you "All this time there is a suffering Church worldwide and you have never once asked about why I don't post about persecuted Christians in North Africa and the Middle East but now you ask about why I didn't post about Kirk's death?"
