On celebrating blessings
A while back I mentioned in a post about a presumed Christian brother who bragged openly about a huge salary.
This leads to two broad points- as Christians we should be careful about being tone deaf when celebrating our blessings with others- a brother who used to attend my church had been long term unemployed for two years- when I get a job should I keep going on and on to him saying how much God has blessed me?
On the flip side of the coin we should make sure that we are not envious of the blessings of others- is there the danger that we get envious of the blessings of our brothers and sisters? If we did enough digging I dare say would we even think we are more deserving of their blessings God has given them?
Let us remember God makes the poor and rich.
Let us remember that if you do indeed have a picture perfect family a serious illness or accident will change the picture- let us never forget Christ is always with us and will always be there for us.
And in terms of luxuries only the rich can afford- let us remember that the most luxurious beach resort in the world is not even worthy to be called a sewer in comparison to the eternal glory of heaven.
