A reminder- anger and insults aren't zeal for the Lord.
So I'm watching a vice documentary on some controversial preachers- one of the preachers does a cringe Billy Sunday impression with gesturing, etc and says "I was having a great day until I pulled over and had to deal with you". If that's his attitude why even bother? That's not a preachers heart.
Other quotes:
"You sicko, you sick nasty faggot"
"We're here to take out the trash and the trash is Y-O-U" (Great preachers heart 🙄).
"Wipe that smile off your face you wicked wench"
"This isn't a family event- this is a place filled with women dressed like whores and Jezebels"
You get the idea. I'm sure these preachers legit think the zeal of the Lord has consumed them but the only zeal they have is for bringing reproach on the name of Christ.
Great preachers could certainly presch viciously against sin but the key difference is they didn't personally attack individuals, crowds, etc.
Let our speech be seasoned with salt and if you want some great examples of preacher behaviour look at individuals like Joe Kirby or Ray Comfort and ultimately to Christ.
