Sermon Notes 20/07/25
. When we sing hymns do we really mean the lyrics we sing, do we sing with conviction? Using myself as an example all good and well for me to sing the 'greasy chip butty' song at a Sheffield United match but if I mumble the lyrics to a hymn on Sunday, what does that say about my spiritual state?
. Be a living sacrifice to God, wherever you are, be devoted to him. We belong to Christ, not ourselves.
. Do not be conformed to this world- philosophies, ideologies, etc. What a sad, wasted life to be obsessed with political ideologies when there are the eternal riches of Christ.
. Sanctification should make us realise- we do not go to church under some grudging command but out of delight! Lone rangers on here- how can you serve God if you're not even a member of his local church?
. "That lady she's on fire for Christ" "I wish I could have his faith in Christ" God gives his people different measures of faith so we can never be proud. You didn't think you could grow your own faith in Christ did you?
. God has given you gifts so use them and use them on others and use them to serve your local church. Christ himself came down to serve from the riches of heaven....
