Anglicans, baptists and a four pack of Hobgoblin at Tesco

Ok. Maybe you want something "real". Got it. You know me by my posts and occasional holiday pics but I'll give you a story this week.

On a Sunday after fellowship a vicar had a conversation with me. The subject came up about holidays and I told him this year I should be going to Portugal. The vicar replies "Brilliant, Portugal, few drinks and wine tasting, excellent!" A liberal response on booze without prompting even by my standards! 🤭

The vicar is not an awful liberal theology vicar too, he is Gospel centred and quotes people like Bunyan and Calvin regularly during his sermons.

Fast forward to yesterday- I'm shopping at Tesco with my wife and in the basket I have a four pack of Hobgoblin beer cans for the weekend, when family or friends aren't visiting I'll have a beer or two every night but only on the weekend days.

So, at Tesco, a member of the reformed Baptist church my wife and I attend bumps into us- very lovely brother but as he's being friendly I can't help but notice him looking sideways at my beer cans with one of his eyebrows raised.

Two Christian denominations dearly beloved of the Lord, two very different attitudes to having a drink. Oh and I didn't tell him my Luton wife likes cider or Lambrini 🤭
