Church and brokeness

I go to church because I know I'm a sinner, I know I am not above other Christians and therefore I need encouragement. Churches are indeed hospitals for the broken!

I'll break down a statement I saw in a comments section not related to the post in question and say what it really means.

The statement said something along the lines of : "I don't need the church I have Christ"

What it really means:

1. "I know better than the apostles who established the Church under Christ's command"

2. "Christ’s Body isn’t good enough for me—just give me the Head."

3. "I want Christ, but not the very Bride He died for."

4. ""The Holy Spirit leads me—but not through the structure He inspired in Scripture."

5. "I’ll follow Jesus, but only on my terms, not His."

6. "The command to not forsake assembling together doesn’t apply to me." (Hebrews 10:25)

7. "God’s Word is authoritative—except the parts about pastors, elders, and fellowship."

8. "The early Church met, broke bread, and prayed together—but I’ve evolved past that."

Best part for last- when Christians say they don't go to church because XYZ what is really being said is - "The Church is flawed, so I’ll pretend I’m not and stay away."

The post in question said that watching a YouTube sermon was as good as going to church. No it isn't- if I chose to just watch YouTube sermons I'd have never met the people I have in my walk with Christ, never have been inspired by them or been able to encourage others.

FYI- this is not addressing people in dangerous Countries or people with illnesses/disabilities that prevent them from going. For such God will give his special graces.

Yes, attending in person is far better than watching on YouTube.

Can you imagine hearing and seeing this in person?

@Thinkerbell Amen sister, great example, and a great example of the international church!
