Congrats to a newly wed couple.

So within the Church organisation I am part of, one of the pastor's daughters got married- a huge congrats. The couple are young and they look like such nice, genuine people.

They had their wedding on a very unusual day- Wednesday. And the reception? In the church itself.

Lots of people will sneer and say "how boring" etc but I say great on them, such purity!

The wedding of my wife and I- bit different. It was on a Saturday, had to spend a huge amount on the credit card on booze for guests (you should've seen the amount of full Aldi shopping trolleys 🤣). Result? Trashed wedding venue hotel rooms with smashed decor everywhere (from both sides of the families) and on the wedding night my wife's Cousin decided to cook sausages for everyone at 2 AM- in the wedding suite of my wife and I 🙄. But people did say it was the most fun wedding they had ever been to 😏

Either way- two very different weddings symbolising our love and the love of Christ and his bride the Church. That is what marriage is about- scoff all you want but that wedding that was featured in 'The Sun' where the bride and groom had their reception in McDonald's will be far more blessed, if their marriage is genuine, than some empty high society marriage in the fanciest of venues where the couple get married for superficial reasons.

I've been to Christian and non-Christian weddings over the years. Weddings with alcohol and those without. The Christian weddings have always been more significant to me, because it points to God as the one who established the family, and that a marriage is the reflection as you said of Christ and the Church.

However, a wedding is just a day. I believe that a marriage is a lifetime commitment. Thanks for sharing the story.
@OverTheHill Pleasure, and yes amen, a marriage is a lifetime commitment! As per what it represents.

Now a wedding at McDonald's is definitely different. May God watch over and bless them. You are definitely right. A lot of high society marriages are just to unite two families and the people getting married both have lovers on the side. What a shame.
@Musicman Yes, marriage for us Christians must be understood as ultimately symbolic of Christ and his bride, the church!
