There are those who believe that the Tree Of Life is only symbolic for Christ. And there are those that believe that the actual fruit of the Tree of Life gave instant healing which gave man and his kind immortality, Genesis 3:22.

How come it can't be both?

There is no need for it to be symbolic.. It was an actual tree that kept Adam and eve alive.. The Bible states that that type of tree will exist in the future and human beings will have acess to it..

(Revelation 22:2) "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."

@Adstar thank you for your reply.

Genesis 3:22 and the Lord God said, behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever:

Genesis 3:22 tells us that's where man lost a form of immortality which the fruit of the Tree of Life gave.

Some teach it is symbolic because Christ represents eternal life.

My personal belief is that there was an actual tree and that had actual fruit just as it is written in Revelation. But I also believe and that it is symbolic of Christ who restores him mortality which was lost.
