Maundy Thursday 2025
To start with a prayer by Open Doors that during Maundy Thursday God would strengthen the persecuted church in their own dark nights.
Now for the main point of this post- today we remember Christ's anguish at the garden of Gethsemane.
It is a pain noone living has lived, is living and will live will ever know.
Not only did God the Son come down from the glories of heaven into this sinful world, only to be crucified, God also poured his wrath rightfully meant for us, on Christ (God the Son) on the cross.
This shows us the seriousness of our sin against a Holy Eternal Triune God but this also shows his love for us- how Christ loves us.
Why did Christ say "My God why have you forsaken me?" Because of the hypostatic union, in his human nature all of the wrath of God poured out on him made him feel helpless and abandoned- he had become a curse for our sake.
That is how much Christ loves us to bear full responsibility of our sin.
