Two more Lental thoughts
1. From my 'Memento Mori' Lent devotional book.
We know the home town incident of Jesus, people just got hard hearts for Jesus as they knew him and also believed nothing good could come from their hometown.
But we couldn't be guilty of the above could we? Yes, we can if we think we can ever fully comprehend and understand the glories of Christ. Even with all eternity we will never even scratch the surface of his glory!
I think to my favourite pastor (am I allowed to say that?) of the Wednesday Bible Study church, he has the most spiritual zeal of anyone I know- he regularly sends sermons on the WhatsApp group and on Sundays after he preaches he goes to a afternoon Bible study- and then watches a sermon with his wife after dinner! 😯
The point on the above is I pinched the 'eternity being not long enough' analogy from him- he still is as amazed as the day he became a Christian at Christ's glory- and he has more theological knowledge than anyone I know!
2. This is from a Christian charity called 'Mary's meals'.
They launched an appeal to help out and provide school meals for schools in Ethiopia (for everyone, not just Christians).
The founder before launching the campaign met two Ethiopian schoolgirls who regularly shared their meals with girls begging at the school gate- the two schoolgirls shared their meals despite not knowing if they'd be able to have a meal themselves at night!
This story should really challenge us as Christians about giving- whether to a type of charity you feel God has called you to give to, to your church you attend and giving in other senses- serving your church, community, etc.
