Sermon Notes 13/04/25 weekend notes too.... and an 80s sitcom parody?

So over the weekend my wife's cousin came down to visit- good date to choose as it was lovely weather!

A highlight was being introduced to my wife's cousin's feiends who live nearby, they are a couple and they are a Ghanaian couple and they are Christians too- more friends to juggle but take it from someone with alot of secular friends- there is something special about Christian friendships!

Took my wife's cousin who was staying with us to the Wednesday Bible Study church for her last day with us yesterday.

If I'm allowed to say this I pridefully wanted my wife's cousin to get "good impressions of the church" we attend. Instead we had a pulpit swap with my usual favourite pastor and I am treated to a guy my age in a red jumper and a posh accent that would be used in an 80s sitcom parodying Christians! . God called Abraham out of the pagan culture of his day!

. How should we respond to Christ? With joy!

. God's people should be hospitable- look at Abraham with the guests in the field and the angel of the Lord!

. Another note on hospitality- are we hospitable to Christ when he knocks on the door in our lives?

. Do we expect God to hear our prayer? Nothing is too hard for God! He may not answer the way you want but he hears you!

. I have had some bizarre and confusing situations, etc in my life but during any of these times and anything that pertains to this- fall on who God is- it is all for the good and safety of your soul!

So was my prideful assumption right? Nope my wife's cousin loved the sermon and said it was practical- my wife's cousin also got on with everyone during fellowship after the sermon!

I got talking to the pastor after fellowship too- great guy and always great to read another 'Banner Of Truth' reader! Like it or not God calls many types of characters to his ministry!
