Sermon Notes 06/04/25

. Belonging= A huge need on the human hierarchy of needs, how much more for Christians- we need to be part of a local church, seeing other Christians, etc in our walk with Christ- I admit most of my friends aren't Christians so I always appreciate the special relationship with Christian friends- it's special as we are brothers and sisters in Christ!

. Not just "me and God" we are meant to walk together! Don't get me wrong a personal relationship with God is essential but God wants us walking with and encouraging other Christians!

. Church is not an optional extra, the devil wants you isolated! I have seen the effects of isolation of Christians who don't attend church on here and in the non virtual world- it isn't pretty!

. Why? We are a body- every part matters, we are all necessary! Play your part in the body of Christ!

. Our experiences- for example My Wednesday bible study pastor who has become a spiritual role model, fellowship memories like that bible study couple from Sheffield who were so warm and welcoming , etc. I'd have experienced none of this if I walked the Christian walk in isolation!

Great message from the pastor on the importance of other Christians in our Christian walk and of joining a church!

"Your denomination didn't die for your sins", etc. Statements like this are patronising as ofcourse we know that, they also show little regard for the importance of theology and unity.

Why I mention denomination is because through it I can know you are a genuine Christian because I can know:

1. Does your denomination say God is a Trinity- God The Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

2. Does it teach the virgin birth of Christ?

3. Does it teach the Deity of Christ and the hypostatic union?

4. Does it teach that Christ shed his blood on the cross for our sins and that this is the sole means of our justification?

5. Does it teach that Christ PHYSICALLY rose from the grave on the third day?

6. Does it teach that Christ ascended is seated at the right hand of the father, etc?

Then I can know your denomination is biblically valid.

What was his scripture reference? Something from the book of ACTS?
@powernap Good point, I should note the scriptures but yes Acts was used!
