Sermon Notes 30/03/25

Down in my hometown this week so back to my former church for the sermon!

. How we cope with the storms of life will reveal our faith!

. We all fall short and sin, when we truly repent- blessed are the poor in spirit!

. The vicar quoted the meat and bones of our Christian faith- "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus's blood and righteousness!"

. The vicar mentioned a substantial amount of the NT addresses false doctrine.

. The vicar mentioned about the bad fruit of false teachers, not only do heretics teach false doctrine they bear bad fruits- Fundamentalist LDS marrying underage children, Jehovah's witnesses shunning their own family, etc.

. Not everyone who says: "Lord Lord", in the context of false teachers, heretics like Jehovah's witnesses who reject the Trinity and Mormons who teach there are many Gods will hear the terrifying words "Depart" when they stand before Christ at the judgement seat.

On my own notes some Christian posters on here keep saying "Your denomination doesn't matter" this is partially true but statements like this cause confusion as the world views heretical "denominations" as Christian ones when they are not.

Does your denomination teach:

. God is a Trinity- Father, Son and Holy Spirit
. That Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit to the Virgin Mary
. The Deity and eternality of Christ- Christ is God the Son and has existed since eternity past like God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
. That Christ shed his blood on the cross for a substitute for our sin (and that is our SOLE means of justification- not works, not hail Marys, etc) and was PHYSICALLY ressurected on the third day.
. That the Bible is God's inspired word

THEN your denomination doesn't matter.
