Three year anniversary and our walk in Christ
My wife and I celebrated our three year anniversary yesterday.
When you are married you share your earthly pilgrimage in Christ with your spouse.
What's our secret? Honestly, with three years of marriage- differences, hardships, etc we have overcome them with our faith in Christ which has given us clear solutions.
When we were first married there was much growth for both of us- we had been dealing with some residual sin and foolishly thought it would just go away. My faith was weak for awhile and sometimes we'd both agree to not go to church and do something else instead.
My wife listened to alot of false TV preachers and I began to engage in lots of practices not supported by the Bible- praying the rosary and requesting prayers of dead saints.
My wife had to keep going up and down for her family business and I didn't get to see her for the vast majority of weeks and this caused some issues.
But the above detail is very crucial- it was in October 2023 and my wife was away on business and took the car so I couldn't go to our regular Sunday church- I treated myself to a full English breakfast and coffee- and decided to go to a small, humble Baptist Chapel, the sign I saw regularly on my walks to the station for the morning commute, the local Anglican church had pathetic "sermons" and I couldn't stand it anymore.
At that Baptist chapel a very lovely, tall lady greeted me, that was the pastor's wife. Then I heard the pastor preach.
He began his sermon with the words: "What if I told you I had the cure for cancer and didn't tell anyone?", the fellowship afterward with coffee/tea and biscuits was great too, it is now my wife and I's regular Wednesday church.
That pastor has been a key part to help in my wife and I's spiritual growth. His sermons are very intense and Gospel centred, there is no "Wahhh do you know how harsh that sounds?" with him. The closest I have ever heard to a great revival sermon was one of his sermons and the Holy Spirit brought such strong conviction.
Overall it was a pleasure to proudly introduce my wife to the congregation and they all loved her, I am very grateful to them for God using them for our spiritual growth in Christ!
Here's to many more anniversaries and my wife and I continuing to grow in Christ together as a couple!
