A Huguenot's prayer
Reading the prayer of Theodore Beza in this month's Banner,I was struck by themes to his amazing prayer in front of the French bishops and priests in the 1500s, I won't quote the prayer as it's long but I will go through key points.
.It lowered self- referring to him as "A miserable sinner" "Poor and unprofitable servant"
. It exalted God- "Everlasting" "Holy Majesty" "Your holy name"
. It seeked for him to bring glory to God- By graces of the Holy Spirit to use for God's glory, etc.
There is something of an interesting theme of the Huguenots to me- my Grandad was convinced they were his ancestors, as it was a story passed down to his family through generations.
My dad is into family history so hopefully one day this story can be verified- the thought of my Huguenot ancestors fleeing persecution from France at the time and setting sail for Britain is fascinating.
