A dozen women asked Jorina to meet up with them in her village, she thought it was just to learn and enquire about her Christian faith. Instead it was an ambush- they forcibly stripped her to check if she had a seal- it is a superstition in her village that Christians have a literal seal on them.
The women above used to be Jorina's friends.
Jorina's decision to follow Christ wasn't immediate- she found out her husband had been seeing a man telling him about Christ and she boldly asked to come with him- it is bold because in her culture it wasn't acceptable for a women to meet with a complete stranger, but her husband agreed and she met the man too.
Over the next two years Jorina and her husband kept learning about Christ and then came to faith in him - both of them got baptised.
She and her husband faced opposition from their family then and they face opposition from them now- when Jorina's mother in law passed away recently, neither Jorina nor her husband were allowed at the funeral.
What does Jorina recommend for our source of strength during tough times? God and his word!
Another factor that helped Jorina was her church family- the first people she confided in about her traumatic incident with the village women was her sisters in Christ and this was a huge factor in healing her trauma.
She now runs a discipleship programme for our sisters in Christ in Bangladesh and also helps them see their worth in God's eyes.
Your prayers for Jorina and her ministry would be greatly appreciated!
