Exodus 3 God speaks to Moses

Moses and the Burning Bush
1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”

4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.”

5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

12 And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[b] will worship God on this mountain.”

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,[d] the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

“This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
from generation to generation.

16 “Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt. 17 And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

18 “The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.’ 19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. 20 So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

21 “And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. 22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”

You know this is nonsense, right?
Carazaa · F
@Adeptlinguist I believe it is true. How was the first cell evolved?
@Carazaa I have no idea. But that doesn’t mean it was magic!
@Adeptlinguist Do you know exactly how a computer works? Or is it just “god” that makes it work?
Carazaa · F
@Adeptlinguist Cells are made by God (Genesis chapter 1) Computers are made by people (with Jesus help)
"You can do nothing without me" Jesus said
@Carazaa ”Cells are made by god”.

At the time the Bible was written, the existence of cells was not known (there were no microscopes). So this Genesis guy can’t have claimed some ”god” made them.

Prove it and describe the mechanism it used (in detail). Otherwise you are talking nonsense.

@Adeptlinguist If you do not trust Gods words then YOU tell me how the world and first cell started, Please??
@Carazaa It is entirely reasonable to say “I don’t know”.

But to ascribe everything you don’t know or understand to magic is both lazy and irrational.

Besides what are “god’s words”? I’ve never heard it speak or seen anything it has written.

@Adeptlinguist 😊The Bible is God breathed. A love story to man kind.
@Carazaa It’s a very strange kind of love, then, given the amount of hateful speech attributed to “god”:

“See, the day of the Lord is coming — a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger. . . . I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty. . . . Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated.” (Isaiah 13:9–16 NIV)

“And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.” (Leviticus 26:27–29 King James Version)

“O daughter Babylon, you devastator! Happy shall they be who pay you back what you have done to us! Happy shall they be who take your little ones and dash them against the rock!”(Psalm 137:8–9 NRSV)

If that is a “love story”, then I’m Father Christmas.

It’s utterly outrageous that theists claim morality is on their side.

Worst hate come from people; how we treat each other, the earth, and animals. We minimize our own hate and cruelty. We are not innocent. We are guilty, every one of us! God did not create us to be cruel but to love God and to love people.

Jesus says if we have hatred in our hearts, we are murderers.
Gods' standards are very high. He says, "All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." We are doomed all of us. "All sin leads to death"

But he loves us anyway, so he came down from heaven and humbled himself and took the form of a helpless baby who was born in a manger because there was no room anywhere for him. He took our sins on his own shoulders when he was tortured instead of us when he had not done one thing to deserve it. He said he is going to prepare a place for us and he will come back for us. We are spotless when we trust in him. That is love!

He saved me one day as a child and I have loved him ever after! I walk with him, he hears my prayers, he helps me, and I love people.

You are as guilty of hate as I am! God created us and he has told us we are doomed if we don't repent. He tells us that we are guilty by choice and by genetics. He created death for all humanity. He told us long ago that he will destroy this earth, just like he did in Noahs time. He saved Noah because Noah repented, and he believed in God that he would flood the earth. So God saved him!

He has a right to destroy the earth since he made it especially since he told us how we can be saved. He tells us he will make a new heaven and a new earth.

I am Swedish, and I grieve for Sweden who forgot her God. In the 10 commandments Exodus 20, God tells us that he will bless us for a thousand generations and curse the children of the parents who hate him for 4 generations. A thousand years ago Sweden turned to Jesus and we were blessed. Now we are not!

"A nation who's God is the Lord, will be blessed"
@Carazaa Until you explain all the hate spewed by “god” it is impossible to take you seriously.

Don't minimize your sin! GOD is just! "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord!" He will repay evil for evil. Or he wouldn't be a just nor good God! But in his mercy, God bails us out. That is loving. He does NOT have to forgive our murders!

Would you be tortured to bail someone out that hated you? NO YOU WOULDN"T!!

A review, logic 101

1.YOU ARE GUILTY!

2.GOD IS JUST! GOD WILL PUNISH YOU, UNLESS YOU REPENT! THAT IS NOT HATE. THAT IS JUSTICE!!

3 GOD TOOK YOUR PUNISHMENT ON THE CROSS! THAT IS GRACE!

4.THEREFORE, GOD IS LOVING!

Sin is meaningless, well you are wrong.

If your family was abused or murdered, you would want them to have justice! Those are crimes and need punishment by the government. God is over government and have a harsher punishment because his standards are much higher than your standards, or the governments.

God is just! He has the right to punish us! If he didn't, he wouldn't be good.

You can minimize your sins, but you will have to answer to Jesus, who is the judge of the living and the dead when we all face him when he comes back or when we die.

I hope God will save you with his amazing Grace!🙏
