Church Date Night
Time for a light hearted post.
When my wife and I were newly wed we went on a marriage course at church- they organised it as a series of date nights.
It was single handedly ran by a Nigerian lady and her husband, they were both a lovely couple.
Food was served- it was Nigerian and Indian cuisine- the main Sunday church we attend (this one), the vast majority of people that attend are Nigerian and there is a significant amount of Indians who attend it too. So lovely of the volunteers to take the time to make us a delicious meal.
Couples sat at on their own allocated table- shloer and other fizzy drinks were available to get with the meal.
The excercise consisted of a Christian marriage course video- in the video a vicar and his wife present the various activities (they really reminded me of Ben and Susan Harper from the classic British sitcom 'My Family' 🤭).
At the table all of the couples individually between themselves discussed the talking points and questions from the video and excercise books- it was such a great and effective way to iron out issues, understand each other's cultural differences, etc.
The church organised a great series of date nights in the marriage course, I remember it all, they put rose petals on the table, got us nice glass flutes for drinks and had very romantic music playing for the events, such a wonderful arrangement from the church and those who helped make the magic happen!
