Sermon Notes 16/12/24
A great service and decided to visit the Wednesday Bible society before leaving to my old town for Christmas (there now!), the fellowship was great afterwards- tea, biscuits and handing of Christmas cards! Now, onto the sermon notes!
. The Protestant reformer Martin Luther called John 3:16 the mini bible! The Bible in a nutshell.
. It is so easy to just pass the idea of God's love by. Do we really comprehend God's love, DO WE? A new Greek word was invented to TRY and describe it.
. The pastor mentioned a scene in "Good Morning Vietnam" where 'What a wonerful world' to the scenes of suffering and war. A very appropiate comparison to fallen creation. And we could make a comparison and do the same scene today- Palestinian children being victims of senseless bombings, having to be amputated without anasthetic.
. But there is hope to the above- Christ will return to bring in a new earth, a world of renewal and perfection- no more suffering or tears, no more fatcats making money off civilian bombings.
. He also used Kim Phuc and John Griffith as great examples of suffering in this fallen world- but they will get their own posts on here.
In short, an amazing sermon where I got very moved, really showing us the suffering of this fallen world which ultimately leads to the suffering Christ had to endure- all so that if you trust on Christ's sacrifice on the cross, and his blood shed, you can avoid hell and enjoy an eternal life with him forever in glory!
