Sermon Notes 17/11/24
Today started off with some news- please pray for one of our partner churches in Valencia helping out flood victims to demonstrate God's love!
In international news too please pray for some of the church team and members on a trip out to help out a Ugandan church!
The sermon was a simple question- "what does the fruit of your life say about you?".
The sermon helped us think about how we should be growing in faith, works, etc and demonstrating the love of Christ in how we live.
One thing needs to be said about the above- sanctification is a real thing and all we can do as Christians is keep growing and helping each other to grow by God's grace! There are some Christians who forget this and when rebuking others, do it in a way as if they don't sin themselves!!!! (We can all be guilty of this).
Lastly the pastor used a great diagram by John Piper on identifying a sound teacher and avoiding a false one:
1. Fruit Test- As mentioned.
2. Doctrine Test- Does the teacher teach the Trinity, the Virgin birth, the crucifixion, the ressurection, the infallibility of scripture, etc?
3. Scripture Test- Do they submit to what scripture teaches?
4. Gospel Test- Do they believe on the Gospel of Christ- justification by FAITH ALONE- not baptism, not the sacraments, etc.
Lastly ofcourse we got an exhortation to share the Gospel with friends, families and colleagues along with a great quote:
