Citizenship of heaven

So in Phillipians 3:20 it says that we are first and foremost citizens of heaven, before our own Country.

This is a great analogy of Paul and it is still great for use today, just as Christians are citizens of a Country, they are citizens of heaven.

In Paul's time however, this analogy would have had a massive impact on the reader- this was written to a Roman colony and being born into a Roman colony did not get you Roman citizenship- you had to do something outstanding for the state.

God's kingdom is an open borders kingdom welcoming anyone- all you have to do to gain citizenship is to recognise your sin and recognise that the only way to get to heaven is to place your trust in Christ's shed blood on the cross for your sin!

Christians who don't like mixing- get stuck in and mingling as a taster of heaven now, as your new self in heaven will love mixing with saints you knew and saints you have read about and always wanted to meet and every saint in between!
