Dementia and the Christian walk

So a lady who used to go to our Wednesday Church has had dementia for some time (she attended before I got to meet her.)

*Sarah is in an advanced stage of dementia- she does not recognise anyone from church and when her daughter comes to visit her daily, *Sarah thinks her daughter is her own mum- and a golden rule of dementia is to go along with what they think, so it must be very overwhelming for her daughter.

One of the nurses that looks after her is a Christian- she even checks in on *Sarah on her days off, what a great witness to the Christian family to her colleagues!

One thing that *Sarah has not forgotten is God's word- when her friends from Church pop in, chat and then read the Bible, they can tell her soul feels refreshed- and sometimes *Sarah even finishes off the verses!

One day a lady from church who regularly visits *Sarah came with some others to take her out to Caffe Nero for some coffee.

Unexpectedly, *Sarah stood up at the cafe table and started singing a Christian hymn- you can imagine the looks! To help get the attention solely off *Sarah, the lady and her friends stood up and started singing the hymn with her!

Some people at the cafe actually found the experience quite nice! 😅

A great thing about fellowship- you will always hear stories like this!
