Why do people believe in christianity?

People believe in Christianity because that is what they want to believe. They want to believe that if they are not saved they will go to hell. That is what they want to believe. More importantly, they want people to go to hell. The reason why people believe in Christianity is because they want to believe that people will go to hell and suffer for all eternity. It has nothing to do with Jesus Christ or being saved. It has to do with what they want. People are still caught up in this idea that we need to suffer for what we have done. No, no one needs to suffer. We only need to experience the consequence of what we have done and not suffer for it.

Eh I don't know many people that want there to be hell or desire suffering. Some of us fear it but we don't want it.

@midnightrose "some of us fear it but we don't want it" if you fear it and you don't want it then why does it exist?
@James25 You make it sound like we created it. We believe it exists but we didn't bring it into existence. There are varying beliefs about hell. It exists because after the war in heaven Satan was cast out of heaven. Hell exists for him.

@midnightrose none of what you just said is true. It's all made up. Some story that somebody created so that they could put the blame on some so-called deity. To justify their wanting of hell to exist. The only reason why hell exists is because you want it to exist.
@James25 Just because you don't believe in it doesn't make what I said about my own belief to not be true. I can believe in hell and still wish it didn't exist. Your statement is your opinion, not truth.

@midnightrose You just contradicted yourself. How can you believe in hell and still wish it didn't exist? What you are saying is that you believe that hell should exist but, at the same time, wish that it didn't exist. That's a contradiction. If you wish that hell did not exist then why do you believe in a God that created hell? Because I feel the exact same way. The only difference is that I'm unwilling to believe in this God. If you wish that hell did not exist then I can only make the assumption it is because you think it is wrong for such a place to exist. And for God to send people there. I feel the same way. That it's wrong. And when I die I'm willing to stand by my belief that it is wrong. I will face this so-called God with the conviction within my heart and soul that a perfect God only shows kindness, understanding, patience, empathy, and the willingness to help others through wisdom and truth.
@James25 I don't believe hell should exist. I believe it does exist. I can not like something and it still exist. You want to think that the idea of there being a hell makes God a bad creator. Okay. I don't see God that way. I'm not expecting you to change your view. I just don't think your generalized explanation is accurate.

@midnightrose I think you are making excuses and you just don't have the guts to stand up for what you really believe. Because you are too afraid of this so-called God.
@James25 You can think that but you'd be wrong. I'm not afraid of God.
James25 · 61-69, M
@midnightrose then why are you so afraid to face your God and tell him that you think that hell should not exist?
@James25 Why would I need to tell him when he already knows my thoughts? What would that change? He isn't going to get rid of hell just because I complain and say I don't like it.

Why do you think there should not be a hell and why does the idea of a hell turn you away from believing in God? What is your thought process there?

I asked myself that question all the time. Why not just accept how God does things? Because I can't. I would be lying to myself. God is supposed to know whether you are being truthful or not. And he would know that I am not being truthful by saying that I accept how he does things. I think it is wrong. Sending people to hell is wrong. That is just how I feel. And I cannot accept a god who would send people to hell. It is just how I feel.
