It was a normal day in the office for Khada when her boss made the bald move of giving her a bible, a dangerous move even in pre-Taliban Afghanistan.
Over the next few months Khada and her husband both made the brave decision to follow Christ but they had to keep their faith secret- they were still however, brave enough to tell several trusted people.
Word must have spread because soon Khada's husband went missing for two days- after all the anxiety and hunderds of phone attempts, he was found dead with marks of torture.
Nowadays under the oppressive air of the dystopian, Orwellian Taliban Khada spends the time she used to spend talking about her day to her husband, instead talking about her day to Christ himself and she spends long hours doing this because as a woman under the Taliban she is very restricted in her movement.
Khada is widowed and poor, but to make matters worse under the Taliban women are severely restricted in working but Open Doors have helped her to start an approved business, meaning she gets an income.
May we as Christians stop being so self-obsessed with our own Nations and always think of our brothers and sisters in Christ across the world.
