Volunteer roles in the Church

So, as part of my daily bible reading today, the NT part took me to Acts 6.

Here the Apostles faced a dilemna- continue doing charitable work or focus most of their time preaching the Word of God as per their call as Apostles?

Well, they found the solution in getting the roles of serving the poor through food to the other bretheren.

You see, God has given us each a role we should play in the Church, if your Church has some volunteer schemes, go for them!

I am blessed to be part of a Church which offers plenty of opportunities and after recovering for the summer, I intend to fulfill one of them, God willing! Plenty of choices- forestry, helping the homeless, helping refugees, volunteering at a foodbank, etc.

Remember, our charity should ultimately show the love of Christ!

But on a final note- never be part of one of those Churches which just go on and on about serving, to the point where they forget about the Gospel, or even worse preach a heretical social gospel.

I volunteer. I took the Stephens Ministry training and now help others. 🙂 Google it if you are not sure what the Stephens Ministry is.
@Musicman Wow, that must be so rewarding and challenging at the same time!

@BritishFailedAesthetic It is, but I definitely enjoy it. 🙂🙂🙂
@Musicman It must help if the bereaved, for example, have hope in Christ!

@BritishFailedAesthetic Yes it does, but surprisingly about 65% of our care receivers are not believers. ☹️
@Musicman yes and I'm so proud of you!
