Wordly Troubles

A great article from the Banner Of Truth once again. June 2024 by Andy Hambleton, I will summarise in bite size chunks.

. As Christians it is tempting to go along with others and despair with the world- politics being a primary example.

. The answer to the above is to fear God. Now 'fear' here is not the typical definition but the definition is to have a reverence for God and recognise how Holy he is.

. Ofcourse we will still be bothered by earthly troubles, but we will go through them knowing God is watching over us and knowing he will bring us through.

. Ignoring the word of God and trying to search for light in something instead, say politics, will instead thrust you into darkness.

. Let the world run around in circles looking to four year terms for their source of hope. But as for us, give us the Bible- the final authoritive word of God!!!!!

Amen, brother!! I am SO glad you clerified the following following, because many get that word mixed up.

Yes! "Fear Him" means show Him reverence. The Bible's mention of "fearing God" does not mean God wants us to be afraid of Him, but rather to have a sense of awe and reverence for Him. This fear can lead to loyalty, help us see our place in creation, and remember our own smallness. It can also give us the resolve to stay the course and do what we know is right because of our love and faith in God. Love him with all your heart and soul. It gives us a resolve to stay the course, because of what we know about God to be true. God should get our allegiance, more than any person, country, job, or whatever.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). “By the fear of the Lord, men depart from evil” (Proverbs 16:6). “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
@LadyGrace Thanks for the encouragement as always, sister!

Yes I was very wary some would read it as you have to be scared of him.
@BritishFailedAesthetic You did a great job
@LadyGrace I tried my best but it looks like most people aren't bothered 😅
@BritishFailedAesthetic The Lord sees and rewards. You did your part of spreading the gospel. The Holy Spirit will cover the rest.
@LadyGrace Love it! So true!
