Today's Bible lesson

We know today that beating your child is physical abuse. The Bible is incorrect in telling you to beat your child. Do any of you Christians beat your child with a rod?

Prov 13:24: "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him often."

Prov 22:15: "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."

Prov 23:13-14: "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell ."

I don’t think it’s incorrect.

It’s about discipline right? When people are disciplined our hearts are broken. Which produces tears if done effectively.

So how do you discipline a 1-2 year old that doesn’t understand you talking to them about not doing something?

@Heavenlywarrior so you beat a one to two year old child? That's child abuse!

@Heavenlywarrior I think I'm beginning to understand you people now. The reason why you believe in the Bible is because you believe in what it says. You believe in all the violence! You believe it's okay to be violent!

@James25 I have popped and spanked yes.

But you completely didn’t answer my question .

@Heavenlywarrior the definition of discipline is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience. I don't know if I like the word discipline. Using punishment to correct disobedience. Using physical punishment or harmful punishments is wrong. Discipline through punishment all together may not be the right approach. Better to teach them by experiencing the consequence of their inappropriate behavior. Also using some form of positive reinforcement would be better.

@James25 we as humans grow from being put under stress.

I would rather make my child fear getting popped from climbing on the kitchen table then falling off it and hurting herself over and over with possibilities of maybe hurting herself worse than my pop.
