The prayers of others

I wasn't always like this today, yes I wasn't a Christian before but I am talking even recently.

Before, even less than a year ago, I was just spiritually sleepwalking- going through the motions of a daily devotion, if after doing coursework, after a day of full time work, I had the energy to read, it wouldn't be Christian material, just stuff related to my hobbies.

On a Wednesday night when my wife was away for business, I went down to a Baptist chapel near me for Bible Study and the way the pastor presented God was incredible- Biblical but I had never heard it phrased the way he did and from the fellowship, they really treated Christians as family.

During this time my marriage wasn't particularly great but after that night things started changing and my wife and I are much closer.

We think of our Christian walk as between ourselves and God, which is true, but we must not discredit others.

Now to the main point- my wife often talks to a friend of hers who still lives in Zambia, she is a chaplain in the women's regiment of the armed forces, she is combat trained as well, in my opinion this helps as she can be with her colleagues when hunting for poachers or if rebels spilled out into the Country from Congo, Mozambique, etc.

On the phone my wife and her regularly pray together in Nyanja, Bemba, etc.

What about her? Well as I was walking back from the gym last night I had a thought- her prayers for me worked, this has really humbled me as it reminds me I am just a sinful man, my walk with God improved by a very humble woman's prayers to God, not of myself. The Wednesday Bible studies, reading Christian literature and being zealous for God- all from her prayer.

We must never forget the power of prayer and always remember to pray for each other!
